Jacob Lyman Obituary, Tully, New York — The community is mourning the loss of Jacob Lyman, a 26-year-old resident of Homer, New York, who died following a motorcycle crash in the Town of Tully on Wednesday morning. New York State Police are continuing to investigate the collision, which occurred on State Route 281 near the intersection with Meeting House Road.
According to investigators, troopers responded to reports of a serious crash shortly after 11:15 a.m. on July 15. Authorities identified the motorcyclist as Jacob Lyman of Homer. Preliminary findings indicate that the collision happened when a sport utility vehicle (SUV) attempted to make a left turn from a parking lot onto State Route 281 and entered the path of Lyman’s oncoming motorcycle.
The impact caused the motorcycle to collide with the SUV, throwing Lyman from his motorcycle. Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene and rendered assistance; however, he sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
State Police identified the driver of the SUV as 73-year-old Robert Brhel of Fabius, New York. Authorities said Brhel was not injured in the collision, and no additional injuries were reported.
The fatal crash remains under active investigation as New York State Police continue examining the circumstances surrounding the incident. Investigators are working to determine the sequence of events leading up to the collision and whether any additional contributing factors played a role.
