Eastvale, Calif. — A significant firefighting operation is underway as crews battle a brush fire near El Prado Golf Course in the Pine Avenue and State Route 71 area of Chino, with heavy smoke drifting into nearby communities including Eastvale and Norco.
Multiple fire agencies have responded to the incident, deploying numerous engines, hand crews, and command personnel as firefighters work to slow the fire’s spread and protect surrounding areas. Ground crews are actively working to establish containment lines while monitoring changing conditions that could influence the fire’s movement.
Aerial firefighting resources have also been deployed, with two water-dropping helicopters observed making repeated passes over the flames. The aircraft are providing critical assistance by dropping water on active fire areas, particularly locations where access is challenging for ground crews.
Residents in Eastvale, Norco, and surrounding parts of Chino have reported seeing a large plume of smoke rising from the fire area. Winds have carried smoke across the region, affecting visibility in some locations and raising concerns about air quality for nearby neighborhoods.
Officials are advising residents to remain alert as firefighting operations continue and to take precautions if smoke conditions worsen. People with asthma, respiratory concerns, or other health issues are encouraged to reduce outdoor exposure and keep windows and doors closed when smoke levels are elevated.
Traffic impacts have also been reported near State Route 71, Pine Avenue, and surrounding roadways as emergency vehicles move throughout the area. Drivers are being asked to use caution, remain aware of firefighters working near roads, and consider alternate routes when possible.
Authorities have not yet released information regarding the cause of the fire, the total acreage burned, containment progress, or whether nearby structures are currently threatened. Officials have also not announced any evacuation orders or additional restrictions at this time.
Firefighters continue to battle the blaze with both ground and aerial resources while monitoring wind, weather, and vegetation conditions. Residents are encouraged to avoid the fire area, stay clear of emergency operations, and follow updates from local fire officials and emergency management agencies as more information becomes available.
